Roger, Thanks!
Just to be clear, Roger is not leaving us and will be around to enjoy the fruits of his labor as a participant and mentor in this hobby.
YAY!
Roger Willis founded the event and the association of flying aces modelers known as WestFAC ten years ago as a means to encourage participation in the hobby and bring a national event closer to those who cannot make the trip to Geneseo, New York the Nationals, as it is popularly known. His hard work and dedication became a reality in 2007 with the first of these events, WESTFAC I held at Perris, California. Since then, four contests have been held every two years culminating with WESTFAC V at Rovey Field in Buckeye, Arizona.
True to his word, Roger has upheld his promise to us for a classy contest. He also promised that he would pass the leadership on to someone new after a while so that he does not become the sole owner. With that in mind, Roger decided that this year was the year to resign from his position and pass the baton.
The members of the working committee would like to express our thanks and admiration to Roger and his lovely companion, Blanca, for all of the hard work, dedication, time, patience, and all of the other attributes that make a great leader.
This July, Roger was informed that he was inducted into the FAC Hall of Fame - Go Roger!
